Renunciation of Singapore Citizenship
Information on renouncing Singapore Citizenship while overseas.
The Singapore Government may reject the renunciation of Singapore citizenship by a male citizen if he has enjoyed citizenship privileges, including possession or use of the Singapore passport, and has outstanding National Service (NS) obligations.
With effect from 20 November 2023, all Singapore Citizenship renunciation applications are to be made via an online application form: https://go.gov.sg/renunciationsc. The form will take about 30 mins to complete.
Eligibility
A citizen of Singapore can only renounce his/her Singapore citizenship if he/she:
Is aged 21 and above
Is of sound mind
Is also or is about to become a citizen of another country.

The Statutory Declaration of Renunciation Form must be witnessed and/or certified by a Notary Public, Justice of the Peace, Commissioner for Oaths (with his/her Official Seal/Stamp affixed) or an official from a Singapore Overseas Mission. If you are based in Hong Kong or Macau, you may book an appointment at https://calendly.com/sgconsulatehk/appointment, Mondays to Fridays from 9am to 12pm, and walk-ins are not allowed.

MINDEF Advisory Note (for male applicants only)
Singapore Identity Card and/or Singapore Citizenship Certificate
Original Singapore and/or foreign old and current passports
Other supporting documents as required by ICA (original and a photocopy)
Once you have submitted the online application, please return the originals of the forms along with your Singapore Identity Card, valid Singapore Passport and/or Singapore Citizenship Certificate (where applicable) to:

Processing fee
The processing fee is S$35 which will be collected online when you apply. Payment can be made via credit/debit card or Paynow.
Processing time
The general processing time is approximately three months. Some applications may take a longer time to process. If you have selected a cooling off period, the processing time will be longer.
